This Pub is Closed Long Term
Planning application for demolition and newbuild care home (Aug. 2021).
Originally, in 1840, the land was owned by Lord Crewe and occupied by James Hilditch. It was called the Sweet Tooth plot. Large pub on housing estate, with bowling green. Emphasis mainly on dining. The pub was built in 1880 but the interior has been modified many time over the years. The main space is divided into two and served by one bar. Totally refurbished interior Summer 2016. Closed 2020.
23/08/2021:Proposed demolition of The Limes Public House and Construction of a new 60 bed Care Home with car parking and landscaping.
31st May 2023: Severely damaged by fire.
16th October 2023: New submission-demolition and landscaping plus care home. Bowling green to be protected during work.
22nd May 2024. Planning refused due to condition 9 (Tree protection).
