On 14 September 2018, the White Lion became the property of The White Lion Community Pub Hankelow Limited. This collective of 34 investors from the village and the surrounding areas were committed to restoring the pub to its former heyday. A small plaque on a timber beam in the "Potting Shed", to the right of the main front entrance, is dedicated to the memory of Tony Lee, "Hankelow Parish Councillor and driving force behind the initial restoration of the White Lion". It re-opened on 31st March 2022 following a £1.5 million refurbishment. Five handpumps serve a good range of locally brewed beers. (For example, Mobberley, Salopian, Wincle, Weetwood, Tatton, Red Willow). The pub is surprisingly spacious, with several cosy nooks and crannies. Bare timber and well worn floor tiles are the main features. There are rooms upstairs that open out onto a verandah with good views of the Cheshire countryside. An extensive paved area at the rear is surrounded by pergolas and flower beds.
