15 Aug 2024; Still all hoardings along the Kings Road advertising retail space available (one suggests there will be a pub) but nothing happening as yet.

CLOSED as at late June 2018. Cadogan Estates have submitted further planning applications to redevelop nos. 196-222 Kings Road and as at the end of 2018 these are being assessed by the Council with particular reference to possible environmental concerns. At least one pub or bar of some sort should finally emerge from the works but this is looking like 2020 at least!

The pub was first licensed in 1807 as the Lord Nelson, was rebuilt in 1933 and, after a major refurbishment in 1971, was renamed the Trafalgar. In 2014 its continued existence was under threat from the Cadogan Estate's proposed redevelopment of 200-220 Kings Road, but happily the planning application was rejected by Kensington & Chelsea Council.

The large single room has low ceilings and bare boards, apart from some attactive tiling around the bar itself. The painted panelling contrast with much exposed brickwork and the space allows for several semicircular booths and some large tables and comfortable chairs. At the rear is a secluded beer garden. Regionally sourced ingredients contribute to a menu priced to suit the area. Sunday roasts are a speciality.
