This Club is Closed Long Term
This is a club, which means that the bar may be only open to members.
Chiswick Boathouse is very close to Barnes Bridge and is accessed via Dan Mason Drive, a turning just before the northern end of Chiswick Bridge. This was one of two venues used by TTRC, a club established in 1897 and which has produced some of the finest international and club oarsmen of the last half-century.
Update May 2024
Chiswickw4.com reports: May 19, 2024
CLUB CLOSED. The rowers have gone to another building in nearby Hartington Road.
A plan rebuild the Chiswick Boathouse near Dukes Meadows has been officially scrapped by Hounslow Council due to a lack of available funding.
The borough is now going back to the drawing board and will be spending £50,000 on a feasibility study on the site saying it remains a priority to restore sporting activities at a new building. This study will include an ‘exploration of commercial opportunity and associated costs, design and benefits’.
The boathouse on Dan Mason Drive has been unused since it was vacated by the Thames Tradesmen’s Rowing Club (TTRC) at the end of 2021 to allow construction work on a new facility as part of the Dukes Meadows Masterplan.
It was to be demolished and replace with upgraded facilities with a café on the ground floor and four boat bays to allow a range of water sports activities in addition to the return of the TTRC.
There had been a protracted legal dispute between the TTRC and the council over the club’s lease, but this was eventually settled in the rowing club’s favour and it was working with the council on the realisation of the plan for the new club house. In the meantime, the club has been operating from the University of London’s Boathouse on Hartington Road.

This is one of two venues used by TTRC, a club established in 1897 and which has produced some of the finest international and club oarsmen of the last half-century. The building is basically a shell to house rowing sculls, but upstairs is a bar with draught beer on offer to club members. There is a terraced outdoor BBQ area and inside there are 5 large wall-mounted sound TVs for watching sporting events.
On Sunday 19th August 2018, Hounslow Borough Council shut Chiswick Boathouse, denying rowers at Thames Tradesmen's Rowing Club access to their clubhouse and boats.
