This Pub is Permanently Closed
Still no sign of work starting - June 2023.
The main road was bypassed between 2016 & 2019 resulting in massive drop in trade. Leading to closure.
Large and imposing pub at Bucklow Hill in the Mere area of Knustford.
Remarkably rural despite the huge traffic volumes passing by the door daily. Large interior with seven internal areas, formerly separate rooms but now linked. Of these the two smallest ones are adjacent to the bar.
Dining predominates, as is to be expected at a pub which is part of Whitbread's Brewers Fayre chain. The pub is very family friendly, but the bar area is still somewhere you can go to just for a drink and be away from the clatter of diners. Two handpumps dispense a single Jennings Beer, which is usually on good form.
There is a small but serviceable beer garden at the front, which is also used by smokers. Accommodation is available at the co-located Premier Inn. Generous parking spaces are available for those not arriving on the 289 bus which stops outside. Upstairs is a large split level function room, and also a smaller one which is handy for committee meetings and the like. Popular with locals, those passing by and visitors to nearby Tatton Park.
