The Sun stood in a prominent position on the edge of the town centre, at the junction of New Road and Bath Street. It commenced trading in 1840, and continued serving the town until it was sacrificed in 1970 as part of a road-widening scheme.
It had been part of the nearby Russell’s brewery’s tied estate in the early 20th century, before passing to Truman’s on takeover in 1930.
