One of Wales's ancient inns, the Red Lion can be found on top of the hillside on a back road between Newbridge and Beulah. Next to the Inn is a rural campsite with fantastic views and scenery and a holiday cottage which sleeps up to 4 people. Out of season it will pay to check that the pub is open, especially lunchtimes October to March.
Historic Interest
Grade II Listed. First mention of an inn on or near the site was1188. The current building is said to have been built 1472 as a single storey half-timbered hall-house. Formerly known as Llanafan Fawr Farm, it became an inn in the early 19th century and around then it was externally rebuilt in stone and an attic storey added. The pub has remained unmodernised mainly because it had been in the same family for 350 years.
