This Pub is Permanently Closed
An inn has stood here (the site of the London Road tollgate) for many years. The original was replaced in 1936 by an impressive roadhouse with a large forecourt, and which in the 1950s was the weekly venue for the North Cheam Jazz Club, and where George Melly played regularly. The building was demolished in 1964, the site redeveloped and the modern version erected as part of a larger building, all of which closed in around 2006, and was demolished in 2021.
