Plough Inn, Wall under Heywood (Plough)

The Plough was bought from Admiral Taverns in early 2014 and re-opened in October 2014. It's turned out to be a happy event for the pub as what was a tired pubco property, has been transformed by the refurbishment carried out by the new owners. Clearly, there was a vision of what a country pub should be, so we now have a place which feels traditional, comfortable and cared for. THere are four distinct rooms. There's the Poachers Pocket bar to the front with a collection of fishing rods hanging from the ceiling, the smaller snug which is accessed via the Poachers Pocket. The former carvery dining room to the left of the entrance and at the rear, the Piano Bar named after the grand piano taking pride of place. Outside there is a large car park and a pleasant lawned beer garden with tables. So, all in all, the tasteful way in which the pub has been done out, and furnished, makes it a homely and welcoming place to linger. The Plough is well situated close to Caer Caradoc and Wenlock Edge, and walk number 18 in the Walking with Offa series starts here. Was once a part of the large local estate of the Shrewsbury & Wem Brewery.
