This Pub is Permanently Closed
The Pilot started life as a beer house in 1839 and had gained a full license by 1846 when it became known as The Pilot Tavern to reflect its enhanced status.
As the archive image shows (thanks to www.dover-uk.com for sharing) it was trading as part of the local Russell's brewery tied estate at the start of the 20th century, and ownership would probably have passed to Truman's when they took over Russell's in 1930.
It had been trading as a free house for some years prior to closure in 2012 - alas yet another lost back-street local. It is now used as residential accommodation, but is still very recognisable as a former pub.
