Winter Pub of the Season 2023
Historic Interest
Built around 1825, the tavern is a typical building for central Macclesfield. John Horsfield was the landlord from around 1855. He was the "Horsfield" in the Parrot & Horsfield brewery based in Bollington so it is apt that another Bollington brewery now sells it's beers from the same pub. The pub stayed in the Horsfield family until 1922 when it was sold to Bells of Stockport. It became part of the Robinsons estate in 1949 when they bought Bells and Robinsons had it for 60 years before it became one of the first Robinsons pubs in recent memory to be sold. Re-opened in April 2011 by Bollington Brewery.
This Pub serves no changing beers and 5 regular beers.
