Large Fullers owned pub, formerly The Old Joint Stock Bank, it is a Victorian Grade 2 listed building. Large central island bar, with impressive bar back, surrounded by comfortable seating. Regular and seasonal Fullers, Gales & Dark Star beers, with occasional guests. The theatre hosts many performances throughout the year and also local comedians and live jazz. Good quality food is served, with a changing menu. Card payment only.
Conversion
A Fuller's conversion of a Grade II-listed bank built in 1862 with a spectacular Italianate interior dominated by a high ceiling with a huge domed skylight. The pub use is well integrated and includes a magnificent tall carved wooden island bar with a four-sided clock. The manager's office is used as a small function room. Meals and a range of ales. Not open on Sunday evenings. There is a theatre attached.
