Golf clubhouse but open to the public.
Substantial single storey 1938 brick built clubhouse. Inside is more utilitarian in style with the only 1930s remnant being the fine but little used fireplace. Picture windows give excellent views of Southampton Municipal Golf Course. Very popular with golfers and casual visitors are welcome as well. Though it is a bit out of the way for Southampton it is perhaps worth the walk up from the Sports Centre.
Good value breakfasts & lunches, Sunday lunch especially popular.
Hours will vary according to season, those quoted here are for summer 2024.
Beer trade is such that the handpumps come into use for the weekend - a cask of Summer Lightning goes on on Thursdays ready for the weekend and when busy this may be supplemented by a guest ale. Appropriately, the Summer Lightning will be replaced with Winter Lightning in winter.
Historic Interest
Officially opened 28th May 1938 with the Sports Centre though some sources say the golf course was opened in 1935. The building was one of six identical pavilions built for municipal golf courses around the country in the 1930s, but we don't know where the others were or if they survive.
This Pub serves 1 changing beer (Occasional when busy) and 1 regular beer.
