Refurbished and re-opened as The Mucky Duck in May 2024 after a long closure. Formerly known as the Black Swan, once a two-room pub with a central corridor this is long gone but the vestiges of that layout remain in two distinct areas, one with an L-shaped counter. Handpumps are located on one side serving beers from Yorkshire breweries together with a real cider, and food is served daily. There is a large beer garden at the rear.

NB. This pub does not currently display pricing information for its cask ales, though it has agreed to do so from 1st August 2025. Note that this pub charges a premium on the price of half pints.

Historic Interest

An inn known as the Black Swan is believed to have stood on this site since the latter part of the 18th Century. Devonshire Place was a major coaching run with coaches stopping at the many inns including the Black Swan.
