More of a café by day, bar by night
Part of the Mettricks chain of Southampton coffee shops. This one opened 3rd March 2022, a conversion from a Lloyds Bank, but then was more strictly a café rather than a bar, though beer and (particularly) cocktails were promoted. Closed for early 2024 while an in-house brewery 'Ascapart' and coffee roastery was installed. The brewery is a 6 barrel plant run by brewer Jimmy Hatherley. 8 craft beer taps, with around six of them Ascapart beers. The beers have been made available at the other Mettricks outlets Guildhall Square, Woolston Waterfront and West Quay.
Beers from in in house Ascapart Brewery went on sale 23/05/2024.
Historic Interest
While not nationally listed the 1920s building has a local listing noting 'prominent corner building, typical of its period ' (for a bank).
