This Pub is Permanently Closed
The former Courage pub was built in 1950 and was named after Lord Nuffield, the founder of Morris Motors. Despite signs to the contrary, the saloon bar is the public and the lounge is the saloon. Mostly local trade in the evening.
The pub closed when the tenant left. Owned by the neighbouring Vanguard self storage, rather than pay business rates on an empty building the owner demolished it. In 2014 plans to build a drive-thru restaurant (KFC) and coffee shop (Costa) with 33 car parking spaces was approved.
