A traditional thatched 16th-century family-run village pub which has a large modern barn style side extension.
One of three pubs in this lively village, the Lamb is a little way to the north of the other two. On entering by the original entrance there is a large bar to the left and a smaller, quite cosy bar to the right; both with low ceilings, large fireplaces, flagstone floors etc. These areas are mainly set aside for drinkers. The newer side extension, which is now the main entrance, is the main area for dining.
The pub serves two real ales; the regular ale, Higgins Tipple (named after the licensees dog) is from the Greene King approved list, although at 4.0% abv, it is really just speculation that it is Morland Original Bitter! The second changing beer is often from a local brewery such as Rebellion.
The pub is popular for its food menu offering a wide range of pub classics and burgers, featuring locally sourced, seasonal produce. There are usually Caribbean inspired dishes on the menu. Ciabattas are available at lunchtimes, and a brunch menu is offered on Saturday and Sunday from 10.00am. A full roast dinner menu is provided on Sundays.
The pub is available for private hire, to host weddings, birthday parties, wakes and other functions. For larger parties marquees can be erected in the extensive garden area.
