Named after part of the town's great castle, The Keep is Wallingford's first and only micropub. Originally opened in May 2016 it is located in a converted art gallery and has rustic charm with an exposed beamed ceiling. The one-room bar seats approximately 20 around 5-6 tables but there is plenty of space to stand and socialise.
The bar specialises in gin and cocktails, but serves up to six ales and lagers from the keg taps to the right hand side of the bar. Beers from Rebellion, Double-Barrelled, Siren and Deya often feature. Usually one real ale is served in KeyKeg.
Off-licence sales of the bottles and cans from the two tall fridges behind the bar are available.
Reopened in October 2021 having been closed temporarily in September 2021 in order to change it back to a micropub from its existence as an off-licence and an online shop (from June 2020). The owners had closed it as a micropub at the start of the first Covid-19 lockdown in March 2020.
