Village local. Redevelopment of the former Plough Inn and cottages 1, 2 and 3 Carpenters Yard was granted planning permission to Ansells Ltd on 21st September 1962. On 16th November 2023, planning permission was granted for "Change of use of the ground floor from a public house / restaurant (Sui generis) to a community centre (Class F2)".

Historic Interest

Humberstone village takes its name from the Humber Stone, a massive lump of glacial rock lying alongside Sandhills Avenue, about 1km north of the village.

Permission to rebuild the former PLOUGH INN (Leicester Brewing & Malting) was originally granted in 1939, and later in 1949; but the pub was eventually rebuilt by Ansells and reopened in 1964. Some time later, it received its new, probably unique, name to reflect its location.
