The golf course was opened in 1977 and the club was formed in 1978. The club house bar, which is open to the public, is situated upstairs and is appropriately known as the Heights Bar. Also upstairs is a paved roof patio furnished with picnic tables. The golf course is run by Leicester City Council. Besides the 18 hole golf course there is also a 9 hole pitch & put course, a putting green, a practice area for bunker play and chipping, a 30 bay floodlit driving range and foot-golf facilities.
