This Pub is Permanently Closed
Formerly the White Lion and became the Hero in the 1950s, named after Sir Harry Smith, a Whittlesey-born soldier who led the British to victory in the Battle of Aliwal, in the Punjab. The pub comprises a bar with pool table and separate lounge/restaurant. Chinese chef serves up both Chinese and traditional English foods. Ales usually sold in bottles only, but a mini beer festival is held during Straw Bear weekend in early January. Closed on Sundays. May 2015 - reported as only being open at weekends.
