This Pub is Permanently Closed
From Kensal Rising, "This pub was a cinema, made famous by The Clash playing there back in 1977; their manager Squatted the building and various punk bands played there. The Arched ceiling was designed to project sound right to the front wall, and acoustically it really works well, Recently acquired by Brent Council for Community events, the Kensal Town Fund hope to be putting on events for Charity."
From Brent Council website, Nov 2020, "As part of Brent Council’s ongoing investment in Harlesden, we are starting minor exterior repair works on the former iconic Picture Palace building. The work, which commenced 9th November, marks the start of a programme of major improvements that will see the building transformed into a vibrant hub for community and cultural uses."

Freehold bought by Brent Council - will this lead to a pub returning? Or just for more housing?? There is lots of housing development around Harlesden Picture Palace site. Newly formed Harlesden Neighbourhood forum want to get it listed as an ACV-

Picture Palace Harlesden now sealed up with metal sheeting, so closure looks even more permanent. 13/8/19 Muhammed Butt, local councillor and leader of Brent Council contacted Antic pubs on twitter to ask about status - "Harlesden residents are very concerned about the sad state of @HarlesdenPP." Antic pubs confirmed on twitter on 15/8/19 that "the lease at Harlesden Picture Palace has been surrendered to JD Wetherspoon, who is the freeholder."
Antic announced in April that, "We have decided to temporarily close the Picture Palace as we do not believe that the offer is quite right and the business is so off the pace that it needs a rethink. It has lost money hand over fist since we opened and whilst we are not adverse to taking such things on the chin, We now need to consolidate whilst we work out what to do next. Be assured that this is not a decision that we have taken lightly and the need for it is as disappointing for us as it will no doubt be for the good people that have supported the HPP. Please follow @HarlesdenPP on Twitter for the latest developments and we hope to welcome you back through the doors in the not too distant future."
A former cinema which became a Wetherspoons and then the Misty Moon. Opened by Antic on 21 May 2015. It is still possible to imagine the cinema that was once here.
