Description at the time of closure: A former GBG pub that has not served cask beer for 20 years.

Addendum (March 2023): The Golden Lion appeared in twelve editions of the Good Beer Guide, from 1976 to 1987. The 1983 entry reads:

“Fuller London Pride, ESB

Samuel Smith Old Brewery Bitter

Young Bitter Special Bitter (H)

Busy free house popular with young; frequent guest beers”.
