This Pub is Temporarily Closed
Now back under management of owner and scheduled to be reopening in April /May 2025. Situated in a tiny village on the edge of Sotterley Park, this inn dates back to the 16th Century. The original arched doors and carved fox heads have been retained. The interior comprises a bar with comfortable seating leading to a conservatory and a separate restaurant area. Outside, a patio and small garden are popular in summer months. Border Bus 522 now goes through Shadingfield, but Mon-Fri only.
Historic Interest
A report in the Ipswich Journal on 21 July 1855 states that: Auction of the Fox in Willingham Street (Shaddingfield), with a general shop, Slaughter house, Stable & loft over, & other outbuildings & Yard, also a garden adjoining the house, lying in Shaddingfield, occupied, with Fox Meadow, by Mr Robert JORDAN, at an aggregate rental of £30 - Sold under the Will of the late T.C.SCOTT esq.
