This Pub is Closed Long Term
**It was announced on 31/3/25 that contracts have been exchanged so the pub is community owned. It remains closed pending works. Details will be updated as and when notified**
There are splendid views of the Shropshire hills from the rather nice terrace at the front of this pub situated in an attractive village down some country lanes from the A49. And, although the location is most definitely rural, it is only some 8 miles from Shrewsbury town centre. The Fox is a local success story in that around 2000 the previous owner wanted to convert it into a private dwelling. Fortunately, local support and enthusiastic landlords condemned the proposal to failure and it is now a fully functional village local. There's a small bar at the entrance, giving way to a comfortable lounge to the right, and a dining room to the left giving access to those views!.
As of 28/7/24, is still closed with a for sale sign outside.
Community Owned
Year Purchased March 2025.
A Community Benefit Society, the Fox Inn Ryton Community Pub Limited, has been registered. They have been awarded a Community Ownership Scheme grant of £299k. In February 2025 the society agreed a purchase price with the owner, and they completed the purchase at the end of March 2025. They have launched a community share scheme to raise funds to renovate the property. They hope to reopen in time for Christmas 2025. The Share Scheme application form, Prospectus, and business plan along with FAQs can be found on their website, under the drop- down tab, 'Buy Shares.' Also, under the same drop-down tab there is information about registering to volunteer and also for pledging time and materials.
