Set in a beautiful location on the Leeds-Liverpool Canal where the barges can moor up alongside. The pub has been at the centre of the local community since the turn of the century, even playing a part in the local defence in the area during World War 2. In September it reopened as Farmer Arms Leo’s, a Mediterranean Restaurant Bar.
The two storey tower you will see adjacent to their car park entrance was actually built as a gun tower and was manned to defend against invasion via air or the canal system. The Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust centre at Martin Mere is also nearby.
