Large managed house whose wide U-shaped interior bears all the hallmarks of attentions from a corporate design team. At the far left, closest to the car park, is a raised area devoted to dining, with the remainder dominated by the large bar counter which squeezes the central portion somewhat. Outside there is a covered smoking shelter and beyond the car park there is a fenced garden with children's play equipment. Now part of the Greene King Hive brand, with the standard menu for that chain. Sunday roasts. Dog Cafe every Tuesday morning. Coffee morning 10-12 every Thursday. Veterans' Breakfast first Sunday of the month. A popular-culture based quiz night is held on the second Thursday, Bingo night first Wednesday and Open Mic Night last Wednesday. Melbourn Village Market 9:30-12:30 first Saturday of the month. The darts team plays on Tuesday evening, in season. Two Greene King beers (usually IPA and Abbot, but varies) and one or two from the GK guest list.

After the long term licensee left the Dolphin closed for a significant refurbishment from mid-August until 9 October 2025..
