The Devonshire is a popular stone-built hotel off the cobbled square, dating largely from the 18th century. Despite the open-plan layout, attractive flagged floors, open fires and wooden beamed ceilings give the bar area a traditional feel. There is a separate dining area and the cosy back bar area has wing-backed armchairs. Old photos of the local area line the walls. The northern section originally comprised a large arch giving access to the rear yard. This section was converted to form additional residential accommodation shortly before the 2nd World War. Tetley Bitter is available alongside all six of Timothy Taylor's core range (Golden Best is sold as Drovers Best. Tetley Bitter is also available. The pub is a Timothy Taylor's tied pub and member of the Champions Club.
