Part of the building dates from the 1400s, with some of the beams coming from Bucklers Hard. It's name refers to the size limit for commoners' hunting dogs. The interior is homely, with the main area by the bar mainly used for eating. Behind this is a slight step up to a quarry-tiled room with exposed brickwork, that has a leather sofa and pool table. At the rear is a small patio and large garden with benches, children's play area and a fire pit. Food consists of locally sourced traditional pub food with a specials board.
In winter the pub may shut earlier and meal times may vary.
