This 50 bedroom hotel, built in 1896 with timbered framed gables, stands above Lyndhurst's main street. The bar at the front of the hotel, is in a room with contemporary decor and impressive stone arches that is mainly dedicated to dining. However, customers are welcome to drink in the hotel's two comfy lounges to the side and rear of the bar area. Also at the rear is a well maintained garden, with a wooden gazebo and tables on the surrounding patio. There are separate lunch and evening menus offering locally-sourced food. In the churchyard opposite is the grave of Alice Hargreaves, the real life Alice in Wonderland.
