This Pub is Closed Long Term
Closed at the moment, status unknown, but planning permission has apparently been applied for to increase the size of the building and move the toilets. As of July 2019 building work has stopped and the local community are applying for an ACV. The Crown is a former coaching inn dating from 1769. It is now a popular village local and genuine free house. Whilst the comfortable main bar area is clearly a modern amalgamation of two former rooms, two simply-furnished and largely untouched old rooms remain (accessed through the door to the right of the bar), earning the pub a listing on CAMRA's regional (Yorkshire) inventory of pubs with historic interiors. The front snug has matchboard-backed seating and a simple fireplace. The larger back smoke room, now the games room with pool table, darts board and TV, has fitted seating, a boarded ceiling, a service hatch and an old enamel door-sign. The other side of the main bar, a partitioned area serves as the dining room. An extensive 'award-winning' pie menu (including vegetarian pies) is served. Can stay open later than advertised hours.
This Pub serves 2 changing beers and 0 regular beers.
