A very large pub with an attractive exterior, although in recent years the brickwork has been painted a varying range of colours. On the right is a corner lobby with bars each side with big sports TVs. On the left, the former large public bar was converted some years ago to a separate Indian restaurant.
Historic Interest
The Leicester Evening Mail and Daily Mercury on 6 January 1937 carried advertisements announcing the opening of the Coronation Hotel on 7 January 1937. "Refreshments served under ideal conditions." The hotel was opened by Ind Coope & Allsopp Ltd. Presumably this was planned to commemorate the coronation of King Edward VIII. However, Edward abdicated in December 1936. His planned coronation date of 12 May 1937 was then adopted for the coronation of King George VI.
