The Colonial was a large roadhouse on the Gravesend to Rochester Road. It started life in 1934 as The Dickens Inn but amid some controversy it became the Colonial in 1984, and continued trading under that name until its closure and subsequent demolition in 1992. It had been part of the Truman's tied estate and sadly did not enjoy a good reputation in its later years.
