29/08/25 -our reported says "Noted as closed last night at 22.00 with a sign advertising live-in guardians; see photo. Actually, I think it's been closed for some time."

Nov 2024 - developers planning on putting application to extend roof to increase hotel rooms. No planning application registered yet. Locally listed. Google says closed.

Former Meux's pub. Reopened in 2013 having spent a couple of the year not open to the public as the Cora Hotel. In its previous incarnation as the Balmoral Castle it sold 2 real ales. Sadly no longer.

Historic Interest

Locally listed:- Four storey mid-Victorian corner pub with three storey extension to rear facing Brewery Road. Yellow stock to upper floors with stucco dressings and elaborate window surrounds. Traditional pub front to ground floor.
