Birstall Golf Club, Leicester

Although Station Road is undoubtedly in the village of Birstall, the Golf Club itself, which was founded in 1901, actually lies within the boundaries of the City of Leicester. Club members utilize the facility of a private 18 hole par 70 parkland golf course, whereas the clubhouse is open to one & all. The clubhouse foyer leads into the large restaurant bar, which doubles as a function room. Its ambience benefits from an oak dance floor, exposed pseudo ornamental roof trusses and views across the golf course with Leicester’s tower blocks on the horizon and the extra feature of steam engines pulling in and out of the adjacent Great Central Railway Station. Off of the restaurant bar is the smaller lounge bar, which has timber clad walls and an imposing brick fireplace with a really impressive carved timber mantelshelf. Sadly, as the flue has been capped off, the fireplace is no longer serviceable. Off of the lounge bar is the sports bar, also known as the 19th hole. This room is on two levels divide by a small staircase and balustrade. The Club also has a committee room with a large boardroom table, ideal for meetings. Birstall Golf Club Pro Shop is situated next to the clubhouse.
