17th century coaching inn completely rebuilt after a disastrous fire in 2003. The spacious bar has flagstone flooring throughout with three areas for drinking and dining. The beamed ceiling and two wood-burning stoves give it an authentic, relaxed atmosphere where historic photographs can be seen of the pub before, during and after the fire. A broad menu of high quality food is served daily either in the bar areas or the adjacent, separate restaurant. There is now a separate function room with its own bar and additional accommodation will be completed soon. A specials board is featured daily and the pub is well known for its good value Sunday carvery. Homemade dishes include a pie of the day and there is a notable vegetarian selection. Occasional live entertainment is staged, usually every two months. The regular real ales are complemented by a changing guest ale which also often comes from a West Country brewery.
We have a small forest area adjoining the car park where we keep our six Emus and twelve Pygmy Goats. They're all very friendly - just speak to John if you'd like to meet them!
May close early when quiet.
This Pub serves 1 changing beer (Usually from a West Country brewery.) and 2 regular beers.
