This Pub is Permanently Closed
Position is approximate. It was built in 1812 by James Dale, who also constructed South View and the Wesleyan Chapel on the same road. At the turn of the 20th century the licensee was John Stanley from 1900 to about 1916. Myra Cope was the licensee in 1919. The pub was owned by Ann Foster of Amerton and leased to Eley's Brewery of Stafford. In July 1919 the licence was referred on grounds of redundancy and compensation of £500 was agreed. The pub closed on 27th December 1919. It later became a nursery school and is currently a private house.
