The Barrel & Bean is a new micropub and cafe, opened in a former Dental Training Centre on October 4th 2025. The ground floor houses the micropub/cafe, with the rear room used for storage. The emphasis is on real ale with three offered on handpump, which may increase to four. Local independent breweries will be favoured. In addition local craft beer, coffee, tea and other drinks are offered. Alcoholic drinks are only available from midday. The emphasis is purely on coffee and tea prior to this. Food mainly consists of cold plates, cakes and stonebaked pizzas. The pub has an Instagram link
