Fabulous river views are available from both inside and outside this Grade II listed former Courage house on the south bank of the Thames. The characterful and tastefully restored interior with separate rooms and partitioned areas is a real treat. Beers are from the Samuel Smith's range. Sadly no real ale. There is also no food on Mondays.
Historic Interest
The present building dates from 1830s, with parts possibly dating back to the previous 17th century pub of the same name. Having later deteriorated and then closed, the pub was then rescued by Samuel Smith's who undertook a comprehensive and tasteful Victorian-style internal refurbishment in 2005. This included the reintroduction of partitions in the main bar area. The pub interior is listed on CAMRA's register of Pubs With Outstanding Conversions and Restorations.
Restoration
