Estate pub built in 1939 by Ind Coope. The local of C. S. Lewis who lived nearby.
Closed May 2015. Local group formed Community Pub Co. ACV agreed. Run until Dec 2023 as a wet led Community Pub.
Dec 2023 no longer a community pub. New leasehold holds to community ethos but has added English & Indian food.
Indoor space includes areas set as pubic bar and restaurant. There are two Aunt Sally teams and two darts teams
During summer has 1 changing cask ale, normally local. During winter may have 2nd cask ale on.
As well as food in the evening the pub offers both English and Indian breakfast on Saturdays.
Community Supported
A campaign in 2015 led to the community takeover and the pub reopened in 2017, with a local group who formed a Community Benefit Society (The Amp Community Pub Limited) taking a leased from pub owners Heineken Star Pubs. However, in 2023 the community group ran into financial difficulties and had to give up the lease.
