This Pub is Closed Long Term
Situated in a remote village near the North Downs Way and Pilgrims Way and popular with walkers. Built in 1914 opposite the original pub, it was designed to discreetly blend in with the surrounding properties. Two distinct bar areas where modern furnishings combine with flagstones and wood floors. The village cricket team can be watched from the garden. Good range of ales mainly from West Kent and East Sussex. One newly furnished holiday let is available. The pub is currently closed, April 2021, as the licensee is retiring and intends to convert the building into a private house.
Update May 2021:
Strenuous efforts are being made to preserve The Amazon and Tiger (the only pub in the village) for the benefit of the local and wider population. To this end, a campaign group, the Harvel Collective, has been formed and various options are being examined. The Collective would welcome additional members and messages of support, which should be sent to savetheammy@gmail.com.
