** Branch Rural Pub of the Year 2022 **
Splendidly situated with views of Cromer pier and the sea, the 19th-century Red Lion has retained many of its original features including panelling, a Victorian tiled floor and open wood fires. The work of local artists decorates the walls of the two bar areas.
Six or seven ales are usually available, mostly from local breweries such as Mr Winters, Beeston and Green Jack. Beer festivals are held in the summer.
The award-winning restaurant offers an extensive menu, and serves breakfast 7-10.30.
One star - A pub interior of special national historic interest

A Victorian hotel overlooking the sea. The main bare-boarded bar on the right retains many original fittings but suffered major changes in the 1980s. The Victorian vestibule entrance on the far right has two doors, one of which served a now-removed snug separated by a wood and glass partition. It would also appear that an off sales near the servery has been amalgamated. The counter is definitely Victorian but the mirrored bar-back has some modern additions. Wide openings lead to a second room which also has an old counter and 1930s brick fireplace, this one with a non-working bell-push next to it. This room has a good Victorian colourful tiled floor but the counter is modern and this part of the pub was opened up in the mid 1980s. The dining room across the corridor has an excellent 1930s fireplace. The panelling around the reception area dates only from c.1985.
