Originally a 17th-century coaching inn, now a free house with one main bar serving up to three beers, and a separate dining room offering a varied classic pub menu with specials, plus Sunday roast. The building is listed, with special features being unusual brickwork in the front facade, and the original timber frame. There is also an extension to the dining room with brick barrel vaulting which is well worth seeing. This was probably originally part of the cellar, and is at a lower level - as is the bar itself, so be wary of steps in unusual places. The large brick alcove is ideal for a small dining group. Outside is a large informal beer garden with benches and a new children's play area.
