Double fronted stone-built inn on the steep main street of the “capital” of Nidderdale. To one side is a public bar in sitting room style with upholstered bench seating and a log burner, it is labelled “Whine Bar” above the door. To the other side is a carpeted lounge cum dining area the tables and chairs being separated on a raised area away from the bar. There is a yard/garden for summer drinking. Décor is of plain white walls livened up with some old photos of the village, there are odd bits of exposed stone work, some stone flags and from the ceiling hangs a large collection of whisky jugs with ceramic mugs, tankards and steins also present. Up to four local ales are served across both bars.
NB. This pub does not prominently display pricing of its cask ales. Prices can vary considerably and you are advised to check prices at the bar before ordering.
