After a short closure, the Polished Knob reopened on 8th March, retaining its unique vibe and offering additional midweek opening hours with lunchtime meals available from Wednesday to Monday, including a popular roast option. Diners may also use the upstairs function room.

This busy, friendly town centre pub opposite the market has a fine inter-war Masseys of Burnley facade, original tiled floors and staircase. Internally there has been a major refurbishment, with seating bays installed using leather car seats (designed for the original Mini, we believe) around tables, whilst a new bar was installed during lockdown. The remarkable collection of memorabilia around the walls heavily features Castleford Tigers RLFC.

Live bands play after 9pm at weekends, with a singer on Monday afternoons.
