This is a hotel, which means that the bar is only open to residents.
As of June 2022 the bar and restaurant are no longer open to the public for the foreseeable future.
This large residential hotel was originally built in 1840 to serve the adjacent railway station and formerly linked to the station platform via a footbridge. It was badly damaged by fire in 1997, but was restored to its sumptuous glory, with a stone façade and interior boasting moulded ceilings and oak panelled walls. For the 2021 reopening, it has been given a refresh with a brighter feel to the restaurant area and greater use of sofas in the lounge area.
