1850 saw the opening of this large public house by Thomas Vanner who operated the Ryde to Newport stagecoach. Fine building that stands proud at the junction with the High Street, and owing to its impressive etched windows is a Grade II listed building, which may have saved it from demolition or conversion in the mid 80s. It has enjoyed a long-standing reputation for its ales; HSB is their best seller and is always in wonderful condition. Snacks only available.
