This Pub is Permanently Closed
The Royal Standard was located just outside the town centre between the town and the river.
It traded from 1846 to 1960, initially as a beerhouse, and formed part of the tied estate of local brewers Walker's before passing to London brewers Charrington's on takeover in 1904.
It was demolished following closure and the site is now occupied by high density housing.
