A message from the Lyon Inn Facebook Page (August 2025) - 'To our friends, customers old & new and local community, we have some changes to tell you about. Over the last few months, we have had to take time out to fulfill our family responsibilities outside of the Lyon Inn. this is something we cannot see changing for the foreseeable future and after careful consideration this results in changes to our opening hours. We will be focusing on events and pre-booked large parties and hope you can continue to support our family business whilst we navigate our current challenges outside of the Lyon Inn.'

Whilst this period of intermittent trading hours is in operation the Lyon is no longer stocking cask conditoned beer.

Conveniently situated on the main Gloucester to Chepstow road, the Lyon has welcomed travellers for generations. Earliest references go back as far as the 16th century, but the ancient looking timbers are an early 20th century addition. The new owners have revived the fortunes of the old Red Lion, sensitively opening up previously under-used areas to create dining spaces while retaining the traditional ambience. The recently refurbished and imposing spire of the parish church dominates the scene, with the National Trust’s Westbury Court Gardens nearby.
