Linked with the old Nottingham Brewery since 1887, the Plough is now the brewery tap for the revived company. A full range of Nottingham beers are served, and an occasional guest. The present building, a 1932 two-room house with a central servery, is largely unchanged. Attracting regulars from a wide area, this 'village pub in the city' has retained its local feel in a period of rapid change, offering real fires, an outside skittle alley, currently unused, and a popular Thursday night quiz. Winner of the Nottingham CAMRA Mild Trail best pint for successive 5 years.
Historic Interest
The Plough has a heritage interior rated by CAMRA as being of Some Regional Importance.
"Built in the 1920s with a glazed brick frontage, the revived Nottingham Brewery tap retains a number of its original fittings. The former off sales retains its splendid glazed screen with hatch but has been opened-up to the bar on the right and its door blocked-up. The bar has a terrazzo floor, 1920s brick and wood-surround fireplace and fixed seating but the bar fittings are modern. The left-hand lounge was originally two small rooms and also has modern bar fittings. The gents', which were built as outside toilets, are now within a brick extension and retain four original Doulton urinals." (https://pubheritage.camra.org.uk).
The Plough was registered as an Asset of Community Value on the 19th May 2016 and was nominated by the Nottingham Branch of CAMRA.
